All listed cutoffs beginning at Uhlhorn 1 are departure cutoffs. You must be out of the station by the time shown. Leaving after a departure cutoff is prohibited unless race officials expressly authorize an exception. A runner missing a cutoff is recorded as DNF.

Runners may receive crew assistance only at designated crew-accessible aid stations: Uhlhorn 1 (mile 30), Uhlhorn 2 (mile 51), Timber Creek (mile 73), and Crystal Lake (mile 88). Outside assistance anywhere else is prohibited and may result in disqualification.
West Peak, Halfmoon, Lost Peak, and Cascades are not crew-accessible. Cascades is a pacer drop-off location only. Crew entry into any restricted aid station results in immediate disqualification of the associated runner, whether or not assistance was provided.
You are responsible for your crew
Crew members must comply with race rules, designated access points, parking restrictions, landowner requirements, and race official instructions. Crew violations may result in penalties against the runner, up to and including disqualification, whether or not the runner was present, involved, or aware. Communicate the rules to your crew before the event. Each crew member must individually sign the event waiver.
Crews and spectators must not drive on roads designated as restricted by race management or enter non-crew-accessible areas, including roads leading to restricted aid stations. Crew vehicles may use only designated crew-access routes and parking areas. Unauthorized crew vehicle access may result in immediate disqualification of the associated runner.
Crew checklist
- Everyone signs the waiver before race day.
- Know the four crew stations and the restricted roads. Crew access routes will be published with final race materials.
- Carry your runner's night gear to Uhlhorn 2 if they aren't starting with it: lights, backup light or batteries, gloves, SOS bivy.
- Plan for long gaps: Uhlhorn 1 to Uhlhorn 2 is about 21 miles over Old Baldy; Uhlhorn 2 to Timber Creek is about 22.
- Leave gates as you found them. Give livestock space. No scouting on private land.
- Your runner must surrender the GPS tracker if they withdraw. Tell a station captain. Don't just leave.
Withdrawing
A withdrawing runner must notify an aid station captain or race official and receive acknowledgment, surrender the issued GPS tracker and any other returnable race equipment, and may not reenter. At remote aid stations, physically capable runners must be prepared to hike to a designated extraction point. Race officials determine the safest extraction method. Transportation is not guaranteed.
Pacers may join only at designated locations beginning at Uhlhorn 2 (approximately mile 51). Pacer exchanges are permitted only at crew-accessible aid stations: Uhlhorn 2, Timber Creek, and Crystal Lake. Pacers pass through Halfmoon 2 and West Peak 2 with their runner. Crystal Cascades station permits pacer drop-off only. That station is not crew-accessible and no crew support is permitted there.
Pacers must comply with waivers, navigation, mandatory equipment, safety instructions, and official handoff procedures. Each pacer must individually sign the event waiver. Pacers joining at Uhlhorn 2 must carry their own required gear, including a water filter, and may not rely on their runner's supplies.
Pacers may not carry the runner's finisher buckle from Crystal Cascades. The runner carries it the final seven miles.
Pacer segments
| From | To | Miles | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uhlhorn 2 (51) | Timber Creek (73) | 22 | Climb to Halfmoon Pass in the dark, then descend through Swimming Woman Canyon and nine miles of rolling ATV trail. Self-serve water near mile 64. |
| Timber Creek (73) | Crystal Lake (88) | 15 | Foothills, then the 2,300 ft Neil Creek climb past the Ice Caves to West Peak, and a descent to Crystal Lake. |
| Crystal Lake (88) | Cascades (96) | 8 | Crystal Lake loop, one last 800 ft climb, the waterfall out-and-back for the buckle, technical descent with creek crossings. Pacer drop-off at Cascades. |
Drop bags are available at all five vehicle-accessible aid stations: Uhlhorn 1, Lost Peak, Uhlhorn 2, Timber Creek, and Crystal Lake. Lost Peak takes drop bags even though crew access is prohibited there, which makes it the key resupply after the Old Baldy traverse.
Uhlhorn is visited twice (miles 30 and 51), so one well-packed bag there covers both stops. Drop bag logistics, labeling, and return details will be published with final race materials.
What to stage where
- Uhlhorn (30 / 51): night gear for the second visit if you're not carrying it from the start, warm layer, real food before the dark miles.
- Lost Peak (44.5): dry socks after the alpine ridge, calories for the Red Hill Road stretch, a layer if a storm rolled over Old Baldy.
- Timber Creek (73): fuel for the Neil Creek climb, spare batteries, sun protection for the morning.
- Crystal Lake (88): a light pack reset for the last twelve miles. Remember the waterfall out-and-back.
